bicc - Bonn International Centre for Conflict Studies is an independent international research institute dedicated to research and policy advice on the conditions, dynamics and consequences of violent conflicts to contribute to a more peaceful world. bicc was founded in 1994 with the support of the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia and is a member of the Johannes-Rau-Research Community.
As of 1 November 2026, we are looking for an
Advisor (m/f/d) for
Breaking Patterns of Armed Violence (PAVE)
Full-time / Fixed-term until 31 October 2027 / Remuneration Group 13 TV-L
to work on a project that contributes to the prevention and reduction of armed group violence in Africa through locally informed and evidence-based Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration (DDR) processes. The project is being implemented jointly with the African Union (AU), the United Nations Peace Building and Peace Support Office (DDR branch), in close coordination with regional organisations, such as the Lake Chad Basin Commission (LCBC) and the Regional Centre on Small Arms (RECSA) and local project partners. The project is funded by the German Federal Foreign Office.
Beyond the project, bicc publishes on DDR(-related) topics. The institute is also a long-standing member of the Integrated DDR Training Group (IDDRTG), an association of institutes and international organisations that offer training activities in DDR.
