Battery Thermal Runaway Test Technician (m/w/d)

Akkuracy is working on becoming Germany’s leader in understanding battery safety. We are not a high-throughput test lab but rather excel in high-quality cell and small-scale testing to maximize understanding of the mechanisms underlying battery fires. To achieve this, we conduct misuse/abuse tests in our test bunker, where we induce fires in batteries using our specialized test rigs, as well as calorimetry investigations using our purpose-built setup.

We are growing our team and looking for you to join us! As part of Akkuracy, you will work in a friendly and dynamic environment, where you will play a critical role in preparing, setting up, and executing tests, as well as assisting with workshop and organizational tasks.

Tasks

• Set up tests in the abuse bunker or calorimeter, assist with test execution, and conduct post-mortem teardown analysis of tested batteries to understand their behavior.
• Prepare batteries for testing, including installing wiring and sensors, charging, and other necessary preparations.
• Assemble components like cable harnesses or junction boxes needed for test rigs or special tests.
• Provide feedback and help improve test rigs, tools, test execution and other processes.
• (Optional) Manage the workshop, ensuring that tools are maintained, and consumables are readily available.

Requirements

• A technical background, such as an apprenticeship (Ausbildung) as an Electrician, Mechatronics Technician, Automotive Mechanic, or similar hands-on experience in electrical and mechanical tasks.
• Strong practical ability and enjoyment of hands-on work, with a high level of self-reliance.
• Ability to communicate well in English (we are an English-speaking company).
• Desired but not required: Previous experience working with batteries. However, an interest in battery technology and a willingness to learn are expected.
