We’re looking for a dynamic and experienced senior to lead our Scene Understanding team. In this role, you’ll combine technical expertise with strategic oversight, driving the development of cutting-edge scene understanding algorithms while guiding the team to deliver impactful solutions for autonomous driving at MOTOR Ai.

Tasks

• Lead the design and development of advanced scene understanding algorithms, actively contributing to hands-on engineering tasks.
• Oversee key functions such as fusing objects from multiple sensor inputs, determining their trajectories, localizing the ego-vehicle and surrounding objects, and integrating this data with map information.
• Provide technical direction to the team, ensuring robust, scalable solutions aligned with MOTOR Ai’s strategic goals.
• Take ownership of the team’s roadmap, balancing technical depth with project delivery timelines.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (Perception, Motion Planning, etc.) to ensure seamless system integration.
• Support team members through knowledge sharing and technical guidance, fostering a strong, results-driven engineering culture.
• Contribute to high-level decision-making, providing technical insights to stakeholders and influencing project strategies.

Requirements

A self-starter who can lead a team successfully delivering milestones

• Degree in Robotics, Localization, Sensor Fusion or equivalents.
• Proven experience in software development and leading a small team.
• Proficiency in C++, Python
• Familiarity with model-based design approaches.
• Ability to comprehend interaction of submodules in a complex system.
• Fluent in spoken and written English.
• Willingness to travel when required.
• A collaborative and team-oriented mindset.

Would be a plus

• Experience working with robotics or autonomous vehicles.
• Fundamental grasp of deep learning principles
• Field testing experience with complex systems, including autonomous platforms, robotics, or motorsport projects.
• Enthusiasm for autonomous driving technology and a strong technology interest.
• Familiarity with agile development methods.
• Knowledge of ISO26262 and safe design approaches.
• A valid driver’s license.
• German language skills.
