Planet A is looking for an LCA expert based in Germany (full-time - f/m/n)

Tasks

• Assess the impact potential of innovative products and services across different sectors and regions as part of the science team. Analyse the environmental performance of investment opportunities and identify potential risks,
• Calculate consequential Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) of products and services,
• Gather data from scientific sources and startups,
• Further develop Planet A’s impact assessment methodology,
• Do environmental research to form new investment hypotheses,
• Support portfolio startups (on request) and work closely with our internal and external network of experts,
• Develop and maintain relationships with portfolio companies,

Requirements

• Degree in Environmental, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial ecology, natural sciences or similar and achieved outstanding academic results. A strong technical or engineering background is required,
• Extensive experience in conducting scientifically based LCAs, preferably in an industrial or business context, is a key requirement,
• Knowledge of consequential LCA and methods to assess biodiversity is an asset but not a must,
• Passion for calculating and understanding environmental impact with excellent analytical skills, an eye for details, structured work approach and prioritising skills as well as problem-solving orientation and planning skills,
• A self-starter, able to work independently and take initiative,
• A team player with a strong work ethic, humility, a can-do attitude and a collaborative mindset,
• Strong written and verbal communication skills,
• Fluent in spoken and written English
• Experienced in using Google or MS-Office applications, esp. Excel/Google Sheets; Aptitude for learning new software,
• Open-minded, communicative team player with the urge to learn and grow together within flat hierarchies.
