sPro - sustainable-projects is a consultancy specialized in the coordination of transnational projects, mostly funded by the European Commission. Our topical focus lies in projects dealing with the sustainable use of the sea. We run the permanent secretariat of the SUBMARINER Network for Blue Growth and specialize in marine planning, policy, and sustainability. We act as advisors to national governments on marine planning and multi-use, as well as coordinators of several EU MSP/Multi-Use/MPA projects and of the Mission Ocean in the Baltic and North Sea. SUBMARINER is the cooperation platform for actors / initiatives across the Baltic Sea Region and beyond, who are engaged in promoting innovative and sustainable uses of marine resources.
We have a long-term secured portfolio of more than 25 large scale projects supporting the ‘blue’ part of the EU Green Deal and operate with an extensive network of trusted cooperation partners from research, industry, business development, NGOs and administration from all European countries. We currently have 35 employees coming from a wide range of different academic backgrounds with more than 15 different nationalities.
The Maritime Spatial Planning/Marine Protected Areas/Multi-Use (3M) team currently manages SUBMARINER Network and s Pro’s participation in 10 different projects and service contracts focusing on topics including marine conservation and management, sustainable planning, ocean multi-use, supporting women role in blue economy, better integration among the 3M sectros.
Tasks
EU project coordination, management and administration (incl. coordination of activities and tasks of project partners, monitoring of budgets; document preparation, project reports)
Preparation of key outputs together with other partners (i.e. conducting desk research; author of chapter and/or main editor of reports)
Consultancy advice on marine planning, policy and multi-use
Planning, organising and participating in meetings and events (in-person & online), overseeing logistics and technical support when necessary
Planning and organization of the engagement of external stakeholders, including government agencies, industry partners, research and non-governmental organizations
Converting reports and other project content into understandable articles, abstracts, presentations, animations, etc. for our various media channels
Together with the 3M team play an active role in identifying and acquiring new projects that align with our strategic objectives.
Requirements
Relevant university degree in a spatial planning/environmental discipline
At least 5 years relevant work experience, ideally working in EU projects and/or relevant industry sectors
Experience in spatial planning (ideally maritime) and related marine policy issues; good understanding of the renewable energy, aquaculture, and nature protection sectors
Proven analytical, research and communication skills and ability to produce high-quality reports, briefs and policy recommendations
Fluent written and spoken English. Proficiency in German and/or other languages of the Baltic Sea region is an advantage
Proven ability in project and workshop organisation and management
Exceptional teamwork and interpersonal abilities
Good knowledge of MS Office and SharePoint
Able to travel occasionally in Europe to co-host or participate in events.
