Stellenbeschreibung

PostDoc (f/m/d) Optical textures for perovskite tandem solar cells

Reference No.: SE 2024/24

Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin (HZB) is a research center for fundamental and
applied research in the field of energy materials. For the next generation
photovoltaics (PV), HZB performs materials research and device development up
to the industrial level. In the departmentOptics for Solar Energy we work
experimentally and numerically on the optical design of solar cells. Our
research combines experimental methods, such as nano-imprint lithography and
other texturing technologies, with optical simulations.

One research area within the department focuses on the optics of highly
efficient perovskite tandem solar cells, where we collaborate with the
departmentPerovskite Tandem Solar Cells at the HZB. In the context of the
advertised position you will be involved in the research and development of
nano- and microstructures for highly efficient perovskite / silicon and
flexible perovskite / perovskite tandem solar cells. You will focus on light
management and materials scientific issues such as the growth and mechanical
stability of films on textures.

The aim of this position is to develop optical textures for perovskite tandem
solar cells and to gain a fundamental understanding of how the textures
influence the optical, electronic and mechanical film properties.

Your Tasks

* Develop texturing schemes for optically, electronically and mechanically
optimized perovskite tandem solar cells on rigid and flexible substrates.
* Identify the critical mechanisms for efficiency maximization and stability
through structural, optical, and electronic analysis of textured solar cells.
* Co-supervise undergraduate and PhD students.
* Discuss and publish your results in scientific journals, workshops and at
scientific conferences.
Your Profile

* PhD in material science, engineering, physics, chemistry or related field
* In-depth expertise in optoelectronic devices such as solar cells and/or
light-emitting diodes
* Hands-on-experience in nano- and micro-texturing methods
* Excellent communication skills and drive to work in a team
Your Benefits at HZB

* The opportunity to be part of a team of researchers from all around the
world, which contributes to the development of renewable energy technologies,
energy storage and next-gen technologies for a climate-friendly future
* Career guidance, specific training offers, and networking with peers
provided by the Graduate Center and Postdoc Office
* Integration into specific EU, national, and industry projects
* Flexible working hours
* Comprehensive counselling services for family and career
* Health management and company sports programs
* Continuing education opportunities
Fixed term contract for 24 months. The salary is based on the Collective
Agreement for the German Public Service (TVöD-Bund).

How to apply

We look forward to receiving your application via our application management
