We are seeking an experienced Senior 2D Animator (Unity) (f/m/d*) to drive the development of captivating animations for our mobile and casual social games. As a senior member of our team, you’ll collaborate with passionate artists, game designers, and developers to establish the process and style of animating our characters and assets. Your role is pivotal in bringing our stunning art to life in new, dynamic ways and ensuring that animations align with our games’ creative vision as well as our players' behaviors and preferences.

Tasks

Your tasks

• Lead the creation of character and asset animations directly in Unity, utilizing the animator and timeline
• Design and execute high-quality animations that enhance gameplay, ensuring they are fluid and visually appealing
• Mentor and guide other artists, providing feedback and fostering growth within the team
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to understand player behavior, adapting animations to suit user preferences and feedback
• Develop, document, and refine animation guidelines, establishing a cohesive and recognizable style for GameDuell’s future projects
• Create storyboards and animatics to visualize animation flows before production, setting the standard for quality
• Oversee the animation pipeline, ensuring seamless integration of animations with the game’s technical and creative requirements
• Take ownership of animation quality across projects, conducting reviews and implementing improvements where necessary

Requirements

What we expect

• 5+ years of professional experience in 2D animation, with a focus on character and asset animation for games
• Very high expertise in animating within Unity using the animator and timeline plus other industry standard software, such as Spine, Adobe Animate, Toon Boom Harmony or Blender
• A robust portfolio showcasing advanced skills in animating characters, objects, effects, and environments
• Expert knowledge with rigging, bones and meshes
• Experience with storyboarding, layout design, and communicating complex movement ideas visually
• Familiarity with industry-standard graphic design tools, including Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and the full Adobe Creative Suite
• Proven ability to lead projects, mentor junior team members, and drive creative initiatives

A plus:

• Experience in UI design, including creating screen layouts in Photoshop and implementing them within Unity
• Classic animation education for films and cartoons as you could do “acting with a pencil”
